Terms of Service

Welcome to Comma. By downloading, installing or using the Comma app and its companion online service (the "Service"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Comma is a stop-and-go voice input tool for independent creators and one-person businesses, with pause and resume, long transcripts, continuing history records and audio imports. The first release for iPhone, iPad and Android is free to download and use, with a first 10-minute online trial and downloadable on-device models. This version has no purchases or subscriptions. It is intended for users aged 13 and older and is not directed at children.

2. Accounts and responsibility

• You may use the Service anonymously or sign in with Apple or Google. Keep your device and credentials secure.
• Transcripts are produced by automatic speech recognition and may contain errors. Treat transcripts as drafts and review them before relying on them.
• The Service is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damages arising from use of, or inability to use, the Service.
• We aim to keep the Service available but may suspend it for maintenance, upgrades or events beyond our control.

3. Your content and acceptable use

• You retain all rights to your recordings and text. Online recognition is on by default and sends audio through Comma's server to Doubao / Volcengine when used. Select on-device recognition under Recognition Engine in Settings so subsequent recognition runs on your device. See the privacy policy.
• Do not upload or process unlawful content, do not abuse, attack or disrupt the Service, and do not use automation to maliciously consume quota or bypass metering.
• We may suspend or terminate access for violations.

4. Free trial and quota

• This version has no paid purchases, subscriptions or simulated top-ups. The first online trial includes 10 minutes; remaining quota appears in Settings.
• Quota is metered by the seconds of audio actually recognized. Retrying the same audio over the network does not double-charge.
• After the trial, switch to on-device recognition. Downloading models requires a network connection and enough storage.

5. Intellectual property

The Comma interface, icon, text and code are owned by us or the respective rights holders. Do not copy, modify, distribute or create derivative works except as permitted by law.

6. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. If you materially violate these terms we may stop providing the Service; consumed quota is non-refundable to the extent permitted by applicable law.

7. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time; the effective date on this page will be updated. Continued use means you accept the updated terms. Material changes will be highlighted in the app or on this page.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China. Disputes should first be resolved through good-faith negotiation.
